    While beautiful and sometimes helpful in small doses, the toxic personalities of these "wicked" plants can also cause discomfort, pain, and even death.

    This wicked art collection can now be seen in an indoor-outdoor exhibit featuring both original artwork and digital reproductions in three locations across Detroit Lakes.

Nestled in nature, this 50-acre property, open and under development, contains awe-inspiring walking trails, art exhibits, sculptures, and breathtaking views of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Listen to birdsong, breathe fresh air, take in the imagination of art, and feel rejuvenated.

A community partnership

The Ortenstone Gardens & Sculpture Park property is open and under development through a partnership between the City of Detroit Lakes and Project 412.

The property will be developed into a recreational area with the potential for walking trails, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, bicycle trail riding, community and public art displays, and as a nature park and garden for area residents and visitors

Thousands of visitors have traversed Ortenstone Gardens & Sculpture Park in search of Barefoot Frida, one of the Trolls in DL. Now, even more awaits you throughout this property, and we are eager for you to experience everything now featured at Ortenstone.

FREE TO VISIT
There is no charge to visit Ortenstone Gardens & Sculpture Park, and it is open to all ages.

The property is open from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. 

The trails at Ortenstone vary in difficulty from easy to more challenging, with steeper inclines.

Portable toilets are available.

The Little Green Merch Stand at Ortenstone

The Little Green Merch Stand is open in the summer,
Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend,  7 days/week from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The Merch stand may be open some weekends in the fall and early spring.
Closed in the winter.

Project 412, an arts-forward non-profit organization, is taking the lead in developing Ortenstone Gardens & Sculpture Park in Detroit Lakes.

With strong connections to local volunteers and a passion for “Doing Cool Stuff,” Project 412’s creative mindset helps cross-pollinate art, landscape, and community engagement throughout the project.
